Between Monday 25th February and Friday 8th March 2019, we are taking part in My Hospitality World. During these two weeks we will host a series of events across our restaurants aimed at inspiring young people into considering a career in hospitality. Flambé Masterclass - Le Pont de la Tour

When it comes to showcasing some classical front of house skills, nothing impresses quite like the fire of the flambé. On Monday 25th February we will kick off MHW by offering 10 young people the opportunity to learn how to flambé a Crêpes Suzette. As well as being able to master this skill those who attend will also get to eat their delicious creations with a steaming cup of hot chocolate whilst hearing about the amazing career opportunities at D&D London.

Apprenticeship Taster – Bluebird White City

On Monday 4th March Chef Prashant will give 15 aspiring chefs the opportunity to gain an insight into life in the kitchen at Bluebird Café, White City. This will include a tour of the kitchen, career Q&A and a competition to cook the perfect omelette (there may even be a trophy and the chance to win lunch at Bluebird!).

Members of the L&D Team and Westminster Kingsway College will be on hand to answer any practical questions about undertaking an apprenticeship with D&D.

Oui Chef – 100 Wardour St

On Friday 8th March we will celebrate International Women’s day with an event aimed at inspiring young women to consider a career as a chef. The event will be led by Kim Woodward who holds the accolade of being the first female Head Chef in the 126-year history of the Savoy Grill and her Sous Chef Geanina Rugina who represented D&D London on 2018 Master Chef the Professionals. As well as sharing their career highlights and giving advice on how to be successful in the industry they will put on a practical culinary masterclass and chance to experience a professional kitchen.

Restaurant Takeover - Blueprint Cafe

On Wednesday 6th March students from The London South East Colleges will stage at restaurant takeover at Blueprint Café on Shad Thames. Working alongside Blueprint’s Head Chef Joseph Albina, the students will design, cook and serve a unique lunch menu showcasing the fantastic educational and career opportunities available to young people. As well as giving customers the opportunity to live their lunch break to the full by tucking into a tasty 3 course menu, staff of both D&D London and London South East Colleges will be on hand to talk about how best to start a career in the hospitality industry. In addition, this event highlights how D&D London are working to bring young people into the industry through our long-standing relationship with London South East Colleges. We are a member of the London South East Colleges employer advisory board consulting on their culinary curriculum.

The menu for the takeover will be 2 courses for £15 and 3 for £20.

Work Experience

Throughout February and March we will be working with the charity, Inspire, to offer young people from schools across London, work experience opportunities in our restaurants.
