London Wine Week 2016

London Wine Week returns from 23rd – 29th May, an opportunity to spend the week getting boozy in the sun and wising up about wine. Grab yourself a LWW wristband (an absolute steal at £10) to unlock the full experience – events, discounts and bespoke offers throughout the entire festival. There’s a lot going on this year, so we’ve done the hard work for you and compiled a handy guide to the best LWW ever:

A whole week of wine is bound to get a little heavy, so the clever LWW team have come up with the ultimate solution – flights of three 50ml glasses at just five quid a pop. Rediscover Pinot Noir at Almeida, sick with the French classics at Orrery andThreadneedle Bar, or try something exotic with the Kensington Place ‘Off the Beaten Track’ flight. If white is more your style,Sauterelle is sampling some warm weather Mediterranean favourites, and Plateau is going all out with a magnum flight using their Coravin, paired with a perfectly matched amuse bouche.

There’s nothing like a long, boozy dinner, and the folks over at Bluebird know exactly how it’s done. Kicking off their spring ‘Blossom City’ campaign, the Chelsea hot spot is hosting a ‘Bluebird in Bloom’ dinner complete with floral dishes and wines. For the Spanish fans amongst us, New Street Wine Shop has partnered up with the arch rival of Rioja, Ribera del Duero for tastings and wine flights available throughout the week. Meanwhile in Islington Almeida is keeping it classic with a Rothschild wine tasting on Wednesday 25th.

How better to mark a whole week celebrating our favourite booze than with a sneaky discount? Drop in for a liquid lunch at Fish Market or New Street Grill and get 20% off any bottle, or take advantage of the longer, lighter evenings with 15% off a bottle with your dinner. The ever-patriotic Paternoster Chop House is celebrating with 20% off English wines, and New Street Wine Shop is even doing 10% off takeaways. The perfect excuse to stock up your wine cellar! Quaglino’s is also offering Nyetimber’s Rosé English sparkling wine by the glass, for one week only, priced at £17 per flute.

This year the LWW hub is nestled into East London’s Devonshire Square, in walking distance of all our favourites – Old Bengal Bar, Fish Market, New Street Wine Shop AND New Street Grill. Fancy the full tour? By our count that would be two wine flights, a wine tasting, two meals with discounted bottles AND 10% off a takeaway bottle… Challenge accepted?
