‘Happy Hour’ is rather passé these days, conjuring up images of fluorescent two-for-one jobs, or depressingly watered-down margaritas. Enter FLOWER HOUR, a far more grown-up celebration with proper, Instagram-worthy booze! From the beginning of May, take advantage of our daily drink specials and enjoy the long, balmy evenings with a #BlossomCity cocktail in hand.
Avenue in St James’s is going for a twist on the classic with its Flower Sour Hour (try saying that after a few). From 8pm to 9pm, choose from the Elderflower, Cherry Blossom or Lychee & Lemongrass sour – not a bog-standard amaretto version in sight.
Head down to Kensington Place and its pop-up, The Notting Gill Chippy, for the perfect seasonal beverage to accompany your fish and chips. The Elder Flower Sour, Rose Thorn and Dafodyl cocktails are all priced at £6 between 6pm and 7pm.
As a very on-topic tribute, Launceston Place has created the Purple Rain, a lavender and elderflower infused cocktail, priced at £6.50 between 6pm and 7pm.
If you’re feeling a bit posh, pull up a chair on Orrery’s terrace in Marlybone. For £6 between 6pm and 7pm, you can serenely sip a Saveur Citron, a Marylebone Sunset or even a non-alcoholic Summer Rose available for tee-totallers out there (whoever they are).
Get yourself down to Savile Row between 6pm and 7pm to enjoy an aperitif at Sartoria’s Libare Bar, or even out on its terrace. They’ve got four floral creations on offer, priced at £8 a pop – the Hugo, Rosemary Martini, Primavera and Bergamont & Lavender Collins.
The reigning king of after-work drinking dens, Old Bengal Bar is forever encouraging mid-week boozing amongst the Liverpool St crew. Sit yourself down on its Jungle Book-inspired terrace and enjoy a £7 Mowgli, Baloo or Father Wolf on Mondays and Tuesdays. And guess what – it’s a Flower Hour daily double-bill, from 5pm to 7pm.
With fab views across the river, Blueprint Café is the place to be on a chilled out summer evening. Get in the mood with a Tea & G, Forbidden Bloom or Floral Gin Sour priced at £6 between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. We hear they’re newly appointed manager is a ‘cocktail genius’ – not that you needed an excuse…
The riverside terrace at Butlers Wharf Chop House is the perfect spot for catching the day’s last rays. It is offering the bargain of the bunch too – just five quid between 6pm and 7pm for their special ‘Blossom in the City’ creation. Fab.
