At a loose end when it comes to the weekend ahead? We’ve got you covered with our top things to do in the city…

1. Global Art Fair

Skip your standard Friday night booze-fest in favour of some culture at London’s global art fair, Art16. And better yet, you can even go on the opening night for FREE if you have dinner afterwards at Launceston Place. Michelin starred meal and an art show? You fancy, huh. Oh – and if you can’t make the 19th, bring your ticket with you over the weekend for a complimentary glass of Champagne with all restaurant bookings.

2. World Whiskey Day

The ‘international this’ and ‘national that’ days are definitely getting more made-up sounding, but if it involves booze we certainly won’t turn our noses up... World Whiskey Day is apparently this Saturday, so we’re heading straight up to Coq d’Argent for a glass of the good stuff on their terrace. The list is pretty overwhelming, so if you can’t pick one, go for a flight – four different options from various regions served in 20mL measures.

3. London Symphony Orchestra Open Air Classics

London Symphony Orchestra Open Air Classics

Ever fancied a trip to watch the London Symphony Orchestra but don’t want to fork out the cash for a ticket? TA DA! LSO have got your backs, with their Open Air Classics concert this Sunday in Trafalgar Square. Bring your own food, blanket and possibly a poncho (it’s England, let’s face it) and enjoy the music for FREE. The concert finishes at 8pm and is the perfect excuse for a leisurely stroll across the bridge to Skylon. Cocktail? Yes please.

4. BBC Good Food Show

BBC Good Food Show Summer in the City

So… the BBC haven’t been too popular this week, but nonetheless the Good Food Show is always a banger weekend event. It’s a fab place for food geeks to nerd out over new products and weird tools and there’s always plenty of celeb-chef types milling around. Our tip? Go hungry and see how many free samples you can eat…

5. Zurich Meets London Festival

Zurich Festival Hub at Borough Market

Apparently it’s NOT just about the chocolate in Switzerland, as demonstrated at the Zurich Meets London festival hub in Borough Market this weekend. There’s going to be a whole ‘village’ of stalls with loads of exotic sounding offerings like Cervelat (best sausages ever), Tirggel (Christmas biscuits, obv) and Zurich’s own gin and juice bar. And yes, don’t panic – there’s definitely going to be a gourmet chocolate stall.
